"In the long ago time the
Folk-Lore was passed down to the next generation by the Keeper of
Stories. Due to circumstances in history many of our relatives have
never heard the stories. This site will be a place to come and help
us connect with the knowledge of our ancestors. The lessons taught
in these stories are needed in this time."
- Blue Panther, site
owner.
The site has stories from over 50
different Native American tribes, as well as stories from several
other indigenous societies.
The information is
presented in a forum format allowing for discussion, an
exchange of ideas and sharing of stories.

ABOUT THE BACKGROUND IMAGE: The tree
in the background is called a "thong tree". It was bent by American
Indians about 200 years ago. The photograph was taken by Laura
Hubler during the 1970's. Laura did much research and study on the
origins of these trees. Her work conducted with the assistance of
the U.S. Forest Service saved some of these trees from destruction
by loggers. The trees were used to mark trails or items of
importance. Some were made to warn of danger or to mark sacred
areas. For more information about these trees and to see other
examples, visit http://www.mountainstewards.org
